 Valentine's Day ... BEWARE!!!!

Everyone that so called lovely time of the year is approaching. Tuesday February the 14th is Valentine's Day.

I HATE VALENTINE'S DAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In case you did not hear me, let me say it again.

I HATE VALENTINE'S DAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not because I'm bitter because I don't have a boyfriend on Valentine's Day. I have plenty of love in my life and I've gone through the sheer embaressment and excrutiating pain of carrying a big ass teddy bear and flowers around school all day. Been there. Done that. Hated it!

There are really two main reasons that I despise Valentine's Day.
#1- I have seen so many of my girl friends become crazy and obsessed about getting a gift on Valentine's Day. For example, my friend Alex has insisted that if her boyfriend Daniel doesn't get her a diamond tennis bracelet for V Day that this would be the end of their relationship. What the F ? Daniel is a really good guy. He doesn't cheat on her or lie to her. Somehow, she got him to stop going to the strip club. He carries around her little dog all dressed in a cute little pink outfit. He pays her rent from time to time. But, Al is prepared to leave him over a stupid gift. This makes no sense. I think women especially get caught up in equivocating gifts with the status of their relationships. I AM NOT ONE OF THOSE WOMEN.

My ex bought me gifts for all kinds of stupid shit. I laughed in his face when he brought me an easter basket for Easter. I'm 22, I have no need for an easter basket or an oversized teddy bear with a heart on it. My philosophy is that if your man is doing you right 364 days, he doesn't need to do something on V Day to make you feel good. I appreciate the things that matter like washing my car, mowing my lawn, telling the truth, and letting me watch the game. Of course, women like gifts and I am no exception to that but you cannot profess your love to me with a gift. Buying me a big ass box of chocolates on Valentine's Day means that you bought into reason #2. Note to men: Buy your girl that big ass box of chocolate while she's on her period and she'll let you tap that ass from now clear into next year. Trust me she'll be that happy ( unless she doesn't like chocolate)!

Okay reason #2- I am convinced that Valentine's Day is just a corporate scam. Some evil person has convinced us that if we don't run out and buy gifts for the people that we love, they will get angry and not love us anymore. So we run out and buy that conveniently placed merchandise with hearts and kisses on it. I love you. How clever!! I bet the stocks on Hershey's are high as the sky right now. I never understood why in elementary school, you had to give those stupid V Day cards to your whole class. Bee Mine. The only person I wanted to bee mine was my teacher's waaaaay older and very cute son (even to this day) son and I knew that wasn't gonna happen. But no these companies who put the little cute cartoon characters on little cards have convinced schools that kids need to share love. So they make you pass out those stupid things. Now, Bobby who sits in the corner picking his nose thinks you got a crush on him when you could care waaay less.

THIS IS A VICIOUS CYCLE AND IT MUST STOP. Honestly, in grade school I really only liked about half of my class. But, the whole class had to get a card. My mom used to get so pissed when she'd have to buy 2 boxes of cards ... only to use 2 cards out of the second box. I always offered to "accidentally" leave a few people out but she always said no. And besides when you get older do you remember who gave you a card anyways. If you do, you are pathetic and no I'm not kidding. Seek help immediately.

I did all that bitching, but there is one gift that I love to get and I expect to get it every year. From the time that I was a little girl my daddy would always buy me cupcakes from this bakery that I love. Even while I'm here in college he still sends them to me. Ain't no love like love from my daddy.

In closing, I just want to wish everybody love and I hope everyone remembers that V Day isn't about gifts, its about love and you can't get love, real love, from a gift (unless its a dog I guess).

Much Love

 Boycotting the Grammy's

I'm officially boycotting the Grammy's. Growing up, I used to love to watch the Grammy's. Now I refuse to watch. I think I'm still vomiting from last years show. If I see Beyonce one more time, I may actually pull out my own hair.

I am so sick of over-hyped artists and under achieving music. I used to love to buy CD's, now I rarely do for fear of only getting about a dollars worth of music from a CD that cost $11.99. Most of the music that I listen to is usually old school. Jimi, Carlos, Al, Stevie, Marvin, Bob, EPMD, Janis, and Carly are always in steady rotation. The last current CD's I bought were Alicia Keys, POD, Black Eyed Peas,John Legend, and Maroon 5. 12 months and I have only bought 6 CD's, everything else I downloaded.

This is not to say that there isn't good music out there. There is you just have to search for it. So much corny bullshit is promoted so much, shoved down your fucking throat until you puke, that the really great stuff gets looked over.

The one guy that is really getting on my nerves is Kanye West. His first CD, College Dropout was the shit. Jesus Walks was the most original stuff that I had heard in a long time. Then he gets on this "I'm the greatest of all time" type vibe and drops Late Registration, and in my opinion it was mediocre, at best. If Kanye is so great why can't he make a CD without a sample on every song? Then the guy proclaims his arrogance, which I think is his own insecurity hidden behind expensive clothes. He should be with those less than stellar rap skills. He even goes so far to claim Golddigger to be one of the best songs of this year. Whatever. But at least he writes his own songs. I'm being too hard on Kanye. Pretty good music, but waaaaay over-hyped, thats all I'm saying.

Okay enough of my tirade!!!!

I MISSED THE SUPER BOWL SUNDAY. Well at least most of it. I saw Tom Brady flip the coin and stuff. He looked extra hot. He is just delicious. I'm sad that he's gonna have to have surgery. I'd nurse him back to health for sure.

I ended up going to sleep because I took a pain killer for my back. I was out like a light, but I did see Mick shake his groove thang. Was unimpressed and went back to bed. Very glad the Steelers won !

Can't think of anything else to type about so I guess I'll stop typing.

 Super Bowl XL Eve

Tomorrow or actually today is the Super Bowl and I am so excited. The Super Bowl is actually a big day for our family. We always have a big party. Its so much fun, loud talking, lots of food, cheering, and booing. Its awesome and its also one of the only times that I can stand to be around that much of my family for an extended period of time. This is like our Thanksgiving.

I feel kinda bad though, because I'm at school and I didn't get a chance to go home for the big party. I will definately be celebrating here at school. My friend is having a party at his house. This guy I met, Brad, is kinda freaked out that I am this into sports. He said that he has never met a girl that liked sports more than him.

The Super Bowl is probably the only game that I never make a formalized prediction on. I will say that AFC are better than NFC teams. But thats not a prediction or is it? In other SB news, I can't wait to see the Porter/Stevens match up tomorrow. Let the battle of the trash talk begin. In closing with SB news, I heard that Tom Brady is tossing the coin.... just more incentive to watch the game. Tom Brady is so cute, I just can't stand it. I saw Roethlisberger, pre-lumberjack look, and he was cute too. The lumberjack thing is definately not a good look for him.

In other sports news, I was saddened to see no Detroit Pistons on the starting roster for the NBA all star game. I think the fans should vote for reserves and not starters because a lot deserving people end up not getting picked. Allen Iverson, Jermaine O'neal, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, and Yao Ming are all starters and they should not be. Yes, they are all great players and I am fans of all of them except for Kobe, T-Mac, and Yao. O'neal is hurt so I'll take him out of the equation because under normal circumstances he is an all star. But the rest of them would make great reserves. None of these guys will make a decent run in the play offs, if any run at all.
Here again we applaud individual accopmlishments and wonder why basketball today sucks. Remember when there used to be teams of all stars. At least like 2 or 3 guys from each team that were all star like. I'd take the team ball that teams like Dallas, San Antonio, and Detroit plays any day of the week. I am so sick of that selfish bullshit that teams like the Lakers play. A guy scores 81 points and has 2 assists and people applaud that shit. I thought that was real fucked up.

I'm about to get into a terrible rant .. so I better stop.

Happy Super Bowl

Uninspired or Just Doing the Wrong Thing

Hello everyone. I was thinking about the name that I used for my username for the blog, which is uninspired girl. I started thinking about that today. Am I really uninspired?

I don't think that I am. I am inspired by music, art, fashion, sports, reading, learning, and writing. I gain lots of inspiration from many of the wonderful blogs that I read here daily. So to say that I am uninspired is completely untrue.

Now when I think about being uninspired in terms of academics, that is completely true. I could care less about the work that I have to do. I don't have a passion for politics. I like to know whats going on in the world so I can be somewhat of a good citizen. So here I am a political science major who doesn't really care about politics. This makes no sense I know, but as a people pleaser I sought to make this political science thing work because that is what other people wanted from me. School takes up so much time that it is unfortunate that I am not doing something that I like.

On the whole, I think that I'm about 50% uninspired and 50% inspired. I think that if I did more things that I wanted to do, I would be more inspired.

Blah, blah, blah I know.

Anyways, this weekend I met a new guy. My friend had a party at her house and I went and I met him there. He sat down next to me and somehow we ended up talking about basketball, which I love very much. Turns out he is a huge basketball fan. My favorite team is the Dallas Mavericks. His favorite team, you guessed it, the Dallas Mavericks.

His name is Brad and he seems to be a really cool guy. We talked for a little bit tonight. He is just a cool laid back guy and great to talk to. I'm not looking for a relationship right now, but it will be cool if me and Brad can be friends.

Anyways I'm rambling, so I'm going to stop here.
